Book Sales

The Friends of the Library (FOL) hold two book sales each year, typically in the spring and the fall, of donated books and other items, such as puzzles and DVDs. These extremely popular sales are a significant source of fundraising for our organization, allowing us to meet our goals of enhancing what our library can offer to the community. The sales are a massive undertaking, but our dedicated and friendly group of volunteers love every minute of it, greeting and helping both local community supporters and those who drive hours to find treasures and great deals.

We are grateful and thankful to our volunteers for the Book Sale - we couldn't do it without them.

Volunteers who assisted at the St. Marys Public Library. The boxes needed to be transported from the library basement, up the steps and to the waiting trucks. Looking forward to a future move to the new Community Commons where we'll be able to use an elevator instead.

While books were being loaded at the library, these volunteers started to work on setting up at the Lind Sportsplex. Delivered boxes needed to be removed from the trucks and taken to the appropriate tables, where volunteers then unpacked and set out the items.

Volunteers arrived the next morning to finishing organizing before the doors open. There is always an atmosphere of excitement and comraderie during these setup days.

This is our 4-sheet curling club. We have a lot of room and we used it. The rows are spaced to allow room to stand and search or to wander.

After the sale is over, we count on our volunteers to assist with repacking the items that did not sell, taking down tables and packing up the Friends of the Library gear. We leave the Lind Sportsplex the way we found it.

Sale days are busy but there is lots of space to browse the many tables of books, as well as puzzles, DVDs, and music. Don't worry if you can't be there on the first day - with so much inventory, we unpack boxes of books to restock tables daily and donations also continue to arrive on-site.
