We are a registered charity run by a dedicated group of volunteers who value the vital role of the library in the community of St. Marys and surrounding area. Through a wide range of initiatives, we support enhancements to the St. Marys Public Library as a central hub for literacy, learning, recreation, and connection.
Mission:
Supporting our public library through fundraising, service and advocacy
Promote public awareness and appreciation of our library in our community
Raise funds in support of enhancements to library programs, services and collections
Raise funds through our used book sales, the Sponsorship Program’s support of the Newcomers Welcome Packages, and donations
Provide funding for Summer Reading Programs, special library projects, enhancements to collections and technology, and features that create a welcoming space
Support events such as Movies in the Park, the Library Summer BBQ, and free community skates and swims
Advocate for the library and literacy through our presence at the Farmers’ Market, Heritage Festival, and other local events
Engage the community through monthly FOL Socials at the library with local guest speakers
Liaise with library staff and the Library Board to support and advocate for our library
Alongside the library, FOL prioritizes equity, diversity, and inclusion in its work.
